Conceived in linen satin and self-lined, the Nargis Beaded Abaya requires 25-30 hours of Karigari hand-beading. Glass stones form the Nargis narcissus motif from neckline to hem, three independent strands moving across each panel. Each panel is beaded flat in ASHAALIA's Bay of Bengal atelier before assembly, with seams hand-reinforced throughout to carry the accumulated weight of a full-length beaded surface.
The nargis flower in South Asian textile tradition was considered the most technically demanding motif to render - its radiating petal structure required the artisan to change bead direction at every petal edge. The Nargis Beaded Abaya is a continuation of that tradition at its most demanding: full-surface coverage across an Abaya length, each narcissus flower moving with the body, from neckline to hem. A wearable heirloom.
The linen satin ground provides structure and breathability in warm climates - each colourway a full-surface composition in its own right.
