The name Memsaab carries its own history within the line. During the period of British rule in India, the honorific was first given to the wives of British soldiers "madams" as a marker of colonial hierarchy, a word that moved between cultures, carrying authority as it passed.

Over time it entered broader South Asian use, signifying nostalgia, timelessness, a certain kind of unquestioned standing. The Memsaab Long Coat is designed with that history in mind.
