The Memsaab Long Coat is crafted in limited quantities in ASHAALIA's Dubai atelier. Available in Moonstone White (Turkish woven polyester) or Onyx Black (cotton-wool-polyester blend with Armani silk lining).
Memsaab - a respectful honorific in South Asian English, derived from Madam Sahib - carries a layered history. During British rule in India, it was first given to the wives of British soldiers as a marker of colonial hierarchy: a word that moved between cultures, accumulating authority as it passed.
Over time it entered broader South Asian use, signifying nostalgia, timelessness, a certain kind of unquestioned standing. The Memsaab Long Coat is designed with that history in mind. It carries no beading beyond the collar trim - a deliberate choice that references the coat's origins in a moment before Karigari embellishment crossed into colonial dress.
The structure is the statement. Each coat is cut and finished individually. Production time: 6-8 weeks from order.
