Conceived in Japanese triacetate polyester and lined in viscose satin, the Nargis Beaded Bustier receives 18-22 hours of Karigari hand-beading. The Nargis motif is worked as appliqués - each narcissus beaded in sequins, glass stones and seed beads, then hand-stitched to the corset sides of the dress. Each panel is prepared flat before construction, with lining sewn to manage the surface weight. The sweetheart neckline accentuates the décolletage.
Nargis - the narcissus - has appeared in South Asian beaded textiles since the Mughal period, when botanical motifs rendered in thread and bead were considered among the highest expressions of Karigari skill.
The flower's form - a central cup surrounded by spreading petals - frames the corset structure here: each appliqué a complete composition, placed where the body's line and the flower's curve meet.
The model is wearing a size 8AU, 40IT, 08UK, 04US, 36FR.
