Conceived in stretch spandex, the ASHAALIA Beaded Gloves are hand-beaded across the full glove surface by hand. Onyx seed beads, faux pearls and glass stone accents are applied individually - the gloves require approximately 10 hours; both are finished in ASHAALIA's atelier without a lining to preserve the stretch of the spandex ground and maintain the glove's fit across the hand.
The ASHAALIA Beaded Gloves were conceived from the tradition of haath phool - literally 'hand flowers' in Hindi - the jewelled hand ornaments worn by South Asian brides that drape from a ring or bracelet across the back of the hand to the wrist. At weddings, the hands are as adorned as the face; the haath phool extends the jewellery beyond where a bracelet ends. The Beaded Gloves carry that logic into a contemporary form: full-surface bead work applied to a stretch glove, bringing the hand into the ASHAALIA surface language without a single stone that is not earned.
Worn with any beaded ASHAALIA piece to extend the surface language to the hands. It sits at elbow-length and reaches the mid-forearm. The spandex construction stretches to fit across a range of hand sizes.
