Conceived in linen silk and self-lined, the Sitara Beaded Abaya requires 25-30 hours of Karigari hand-beading. Glass stones, faux pearls and seed beads are applied panel by panel across the full surface from neckline to hem, with uniform tension maintained throughout. Each panel is beaded flat in ASHAALIA's Bay of Bengal atelier before assembly; seams are hand-reinforced to carry the accumulated surface weight across the Abaya's full length.
Sitara - star in Urdu - and the Abaya form share a long history in ceremonial South Asian and Gulf dress. Full-surface beading references the tradition of Mughal court robes: garments whose entire surface was worked by artisan hands as a mark of status and devotion. The Sitara Abaya is a continuation of that practice.
A wearable heirloom conceived for ceremonial occasions and significant events. The linen-silk ground provides breathability appropriate to warm climates; the full-surface beading catches light in every condition. Produced in a limited run.
The model is wearing a size 8AU, 40IT, 08UK, 04US, 36FR.
